Research on Flight Deck Dynamics

How do pilots experience communication, collaboration and decision-making on today’s flight decks?

The Institute for Women Of Aviation Worldwide (iWOAW) is currently conducting an international study on airline pilot flight deck dynamics, with particular attention to experiences in mixed-gender and same-gender crews.

The research aims to build a clearer evidence base around how pilots experience teamwork, cockpit atmosphere and interpersonal dynamics in everyday operations. Rather than relying on assumptions or individual anecdotes, the study seeks perspectives from airline pilots across different countries, airlines and levels of experience.

For us at Elevate the Line, this is exactly the kind of research worth sharing: understanding what is happening across aviation, listening to different experiences and allowing data to inform the conversation.
